MEU SÃO JOSÉ
MY SAINT JOSEPH
Meu São José
Que um dia duvidou
Que o que Maria recebeu
Foi do Império Criador
Desconfiou-se
Não conheceu que a semente
Era a estrela do Oriente
Deus do céu foi quem mandou
Meu São José
Quando chegou a Belém
Não encontrou a ninguém
Que pudesse lhe abrigar
Finalmente
Apareceu uma estrebaria
Que aconchegou Maria
Que deu à luz neste altar
Meu São José
Pôs os pés no caminho
Jesus era um menininho
Mas já havia perseguição
Refugiou-se
Quando por obra da serpente
Houve a matança dos inocentes
Foi Herodes que ordenou
Voltou do Egito
Só quando tudo serenou
A sua casa ele firmou
E se pôs a trabalhar
Em Nazaré
Tinha sua carpintaria
Era feliz com seu filhinho
Mais a Sagrada Mãe Maria
My Saint Joseph
Who once doubted
That what Mary received
Was from the Creator Empire
He doubted
He didn’t know that the seed
Was the Star of the Orient
God in Heaven was who ordered it
My Saint Joseph
When he arrived in Bethlehem
Didn’t find anybody
Who could shelter him
Finally
A manger appeared
That sheltered Mary
Who gave birth in this altar
My Saint Joseph
Went off on his way
Jesus was a little boy
But there was already persecution
He found refuge
When, by the work of the serpent
The massacre of the innocents occurred
It was Herod who ordered it
He returned from Egypt
Only when everything became calm
He firmed his house
And started working
In Nazareth
He had his carpentry
He was happy with his little son
And the Sacred Mother Mary
refrain, sung twicerefrain, sung three or more times
Hymn 69 of 157.
