An Ancient Statement of Faith
The Apostle's Creed is one of Christianity's oldest and most widely used professions of faith, setting out belief in God the Father, the life and death of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, and core Christian doctrines such as the resurrection of the body and the forgiveness of sins. Its wording developed over the early centuries of the Church, and it remains part of Catholic liturgy today.

Within Santo Daime, the Creed is recited in both Portuguese and English, reflecting the religion's Brazilian origin and its spread to English-speaking practitioners. It generally appears alongside other Catholic-derived prayers such as the Our Father and the Hail Mary during the course of a work.
Its Doctrinal Content
The Creed affirms belief in the Trinity, the virgin birth, Christ's crucifixion and resurrection, and the communion of saints, among other core Christian teachings. In the doctrine of Santo Daime, reciting it is understood as an affirmation of the Catholic foundation on which the religion was built, rather than a statement unique to the tradition itself.
