Ó meu Jesus,
Perdoai-nos, livrai-nos do fogo do inferno.

The prototype of the Jesus Prayer is presented in the Gospel (Mark 10:46–52): when Jesus Christ was leaving Jericho, a blind man named Bartimaeus, “son of Timaeus,” was sitting by the roadside. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, the blind man began to cry out and say: “Jesus, Son of David! have mercy on me.” Many rebuked him, telling him to be silent, but he cried out all the more: “Son of David! have mercy on me”
