CADERNO DE HINOS CHAVEIRÃO

English

  • Cires Beijamar

We were visiting Glauco while he was working in his office. At some point, we came across a small notebook. When we looked inside, we realized that the hymns written there matched the ones found in the new Caderno de Hinos called Chaveirão. Almost all the hymns in Chaveirão were already in that notebook, except for a few that he had received later.

There were also many other hymns in that notebook—unpublished ones. Glauco explained to us that for each hymn he received, he had to ask for confirmation from the astral before sharing or presenting it publicly. Many of the hymns hadn’t received that confirmation yet, so they remained unpublished.

Still, we got excited and asked him to sing just a little bit of one. He did, and it was beautiful. That moment allowed us to bring the entire Chaveirão collection into the light.

However, Glauco made it clear that the rest of the hymns in the notebook weren’t ready to be shared. He asked us to respect that process. After he passed away, the notebook remained, containing many hymns without known melodies. Only a few members of the community—those who had been with him since the beginning of his mission—knew some of those melodies.

Some hymns were later added posthumously, including ones that were reportedly received on the day he passed. A copy of the notebook was also given to Cidinha. I’m not sure who else has a copy; I personally don’t.

So now, let’s just enjoy what we do have. Let’s start with number one in the notebook—the hymn for the youth.
