NOVA ALIANÇA

São João vivia no deserto,

Pregando a paz, expandindo amor

Ele se fez pequenininho

E trabalhou a vida toda pro Senhor

No rio Jordão

Batizou os sofredores,

Anunciando a estrada do amor

Foi pelas águas do rio Jordão—

É pelas águas

Pra lavar o coração

Com humildade

Batizou nosso Jesus

Com humildade,

Seu batismo se traçou:

Nova aliança do puro amor

Vem pelo fogo

Da presença do Senhor

É para sempre

Nossa presença divina,

Irradiando no caminho aonde for

Sigo na graça

Com todo amor,

Sigo na graça

Do cantar do beija-flor

Saint John lived in the desert,

Preaching peace, expanding love

He made himself small

And worked all his life for the Lord

In the Jordan River,

He baptized the suffering,

Announcing the path of love

It was by the waters of the Jordan River—

And for the waters to wash the heart

With humility,

He baptized our Jesus

With humility,

His baptism was spread:

New alliance of pure love

Comes from the fire

Of the presence of the Lord

It is forever

Our Divine Presence,

Illuminating the path we walk

I follow in grace,

With all love

I follow the grace
