A PASSAGEM
THE PASSING
No dia de São Sebastião
Do ano de noventa
Meu Padrinho fez a passagem
No Rio de Janeiro
Meu Padrinho viajou
Eu fiquei tão desolado
Seu espírito se libertou
Desse mundo do pecado
Ele se encontrou com o Mestre
E a sua direita de sentou
E disse à Rainha
Oh! minha Mãe aqui estou
No silêncio da eternidade
Está o eu superior
Meu Mestre e meu Padrinho
Que tanto nos avisou
Vamos todos ser fiel
E vamos deixar de tormenta
Se arrepender dos seus pecados
E não forçar a consciência
Dou viva ao Rei Salomão
Que agora é quem nos governa
Que a verdade vai continuar
Porque a verdade é eterna
On the day of Saint Sebastian
Of the year of ninety
My Padrinho made the passing
In Rio de Janeiro
My Padrinho journeyed on
I was left so desolate
His spirit freed itself
From this world of sin
He met with the Mestre
And sat at his right hand
And said to the Queen
Oh! my Mother, here I am
In the silence of eternity
Dwells the higher self
My Mestre and my Padrinho
Who so warned us
Let us all be faithful
And let us leave behind torment
Repent of your sins
And do not force the conscience
I give a cheer to King Solomon
Who now is the one who governs us
For the truth will continue
Because the truth is eternal
