⍟144. THE MIRROR OF MAN
English
To be a man is to be just,
Frank, loyal and a friend,
Thus the Mestre showed
And became so beloved
It is not easy to be a man
If you think it is,
Remember our model
My good Jesus of Nazareth
Many think that a man
Is to be fierce and proud
As if it were a virtue
To make us more exuberant
Some did not keep
Sincerity with others
They pretend to be more but they are not
And speak ill of their brother
If you say it but do not do it
Much worse off you will be
You broke with the word of a man
For a man cannot break it
If you meddle with vice
You will repent, fool,
For a man who becomes addicted
Is not a good example
A man who is a man humbles himself
To abide in the truth,
And to be able to understand well
Wherever the Daime shows
To be a man is to be just,
Frank, loyal and a friend,
Thus the Mestre showed
And became so beloved
