He was working as a healer when he came to Mestre Irineu in 1965 with a chronic illness and was cured. Mestre Irineu authorised him in 1968 to establish a satellite group at Colônia Cinco Mil.

After Mestre Irineu's death the question of succession was never settled between the lines. Sebastião's people formally constituted CEFLURIS in 1974, and in 1980 he led about a hundred followers deep into the forest near the Purus, founding Vila Céu do Mapiá in 1983. It is through this line that the doctrine reached Europe, North America and Japan.

His hinário O Justiceiro is among the largest in the archive. He named his son Alfredo his spiritual successor while he was still alive.
