A tribute, not a history
This page reflects a tribute written within the Santo Daime community, most recently around International Women's Day, honoring the contribution of women to the tradition's daily life and continuity. It reflects on how work historically associated with women, tending food, seed, and water, caring for children and elders, and sustaining a household and community, has often gone unrecognized as work at all, even though it is foundational to a community's ability to continue.
Honoring Mapiá's pioneer and veteran women
The tribute singles out the women who answered Padrinho Sebastião's call in the community's early years and who remain, in the eyes of those who wrote it, among Céu do Mapiá's elders today. It frames their contribution as one of traditional knowledge, dedication, and inspiration passed down through the community's history, and extends thanks and honor to them by name within the community, if not by name on this page.
A call to new generations
The tribute closes by addressing the women who follow, encouraging them to carry that inheritance forward while also opening paths of their own, and frames the observance as one of gratitude and continued commitment to equality and wellbeing within the community.
